Ukrainians honor the memory of their heroes every day, among whom is Senior Lieutenant Hlinenko Serhiy Anatoliyovych.
Serhiy was born into a military family in 1997 and always dreamed of aviation. After receiving an education at the Kharkiv National University of Air Forces, he became part of a military unit that protected the territorial integrity of Ukraine. As a result of combat actions, he was shot down by an enemy Mi-8 helicopter during a mission.
On March 4, 2022, after completing a combat mission, an enemy Mi-8 helicopter was shot down in the area of the village of Velyka Novosilka in the Volnovakha district of Donetsk region, and the crew perished.
Posthumously, Serhiy Hlinenko was awarded the rank of captain and was honored with the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi III degree.
Life between love and the army
Serhiy and his wife Natalia met in 2019 and quickly got married despite military separations. Natalia, who also comes from a military family, understands all the difficulties of this life. After Serhiy's loss, she remains strong, awaiting the birth of their daughter and keeping the memory of her beloved alive.
February 24, 2022: the beginning of another life
In 2022, during a deployment to the east when the war began, Serhiy constantly called Natalia, trying to calm her down. The last call on March 4, 2022, became the final one. The aircraft on which Serhiy was located was shot down by enemy missiles.
'He would want me to live'
Natalia and Serhiy's daughter, Angelia, has never seen her dad, but every morning her mother tells her about him. Natalia keeps Serhiy's memory and stories alive by sharing them with their daughter so that she does not forget.
