Ukrainian 'Flamingo' missiles hit Russian targets in temporarily occupied Crimea. The base of Russian border guards, managed by the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation, was struck. This was reported by 'Glavkom' citing 'Militarny'.

According to the publication, the border post and the base of patrol boats near Armyansk were hit. It is noted that the attack was carried out by 'Flamingo' missiles, although some had previously assumed it was 'Neptunes'.

The Telegram channel 'Mykolayivskyi Vanek' reported that early in the morning on August 30, three missiles were launched from the Ukrainian coast, none of which the Russians managed to intercept.

Damage to objects and the death of a serviceman

The satellite images that appeared online show that the main building of the post is completely destroyed, and the surrounding area is scorched. Russian media reported damage to six air-cushion patrol boats and the death of one serviceman.

Characteristics of the 'Flamingo' missile and plans for its production

It should be noted that earlier Ukrainian developers presented a new long-range weapon - 'Flamingo' cruise missiles capable of hitting targets at a distance of over 3000 kilometers. Their serial production started on Thursday, August 14. Subsequently, the release of up to 50 missiles per month was announced. It is worth noting that 'Flamingo' is twice as powerful as the Tomahawk. According to experts' data:

  • range - up to 3000 km;

  • flight time - over 4 hours;

  • maximum speed - up to 950 km/h;

  • cruising speed - 850-900 km/h;

  • wingspan - up to 6 meters.

Later, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that mass production of the long-range Ukrainian-made 'Flamingo' missile will begin in December-February. He spoke about its successful testing.

It has been reported that Ukrainian 'Flamingo' missiles hit Russian targets in Crimea, destroying the Russian border guards' base and damaging patrol boats. Russian servicemen suffered losses from this strike, as evidenced by satellite images and media information. Ukrainian 'Flamingo' missiles have shown high effectiveness and acute attention to the development of domestic military potential.
