Attack on ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih
As a result of a rocket attack on Ukraine's largest metallurgical plant, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, 2 people were killed and 13 employees of the company and subcontractors were injured. The attack led to a partial shutdown of production due to damage to key production facilities in the energy and blast furnace production. An emergency response plan has been implemented.
Fire service, labor protection department, rescuers, and medical staff are working at the scene. All necessary medical assistance is being provided to the victims in medical facilities of the city. As noted by the company's press service,
“an emergency response plan has been put into action. Employees of the fire service, labor protection department, rescuers, and medical staff are working at the scene”.
Damage assessment and safety
The press release states that as a result of the attack, key production facilities were damaged, and production processes at the plant were partially halted.
“Currently, specialists are assessing the extent of the damage and the possibilities and timelines for recovery”, the statement says. The company also emphasizes that “our enterprise is a civilian facility in the mining and metallurgical industry and firmly condemns such insidious hostile attacks.”
This is not the first attack on the plant: in 2022, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih was already hit by a devastating rocket strike, resulting in the destruction of a rolling shop and the loss of one employee's life. In the last 24 hours, one person was killed and another 14 were injured as a result of hostile attacks. Russian forces launched more than 20 attacks on two districts using drones, artillery, and rockets, leading to fires in the Shyrokyivska and Hrushivska communities in Kryvyi Rih.
Infrastructure, the enterprise, a multi-story building, and a private home were damaged. Among the injured is a 55-year-old man who will receive outpatient treatment. This incident highlights the alarming situation in the region, where hostile attacks continue to harm civilian objects and people's lives.
This attack on ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih is part of a prolonged series of hostile actions against key industrial objects in Ukraine, emphasizing the ongoing threat to the safety of the civilian population and the country's economy. With the increase in attacks, authorities and enterprises are forced to take additional security measures and emergency response actions, which will affect production processes and the economic stability of the region. This also indicates the need for international support to protect civilian objects and restore infrastructure affected by the conflict.
