Search and Rescue Operations Underway in Kyiv

Emergency teams are still working to find people trapped under debris in the Podil and Darnytsia districts of Kyiv after a massive Russian attack on the night of July 6. A collapsed building in the Podil district may have victims beneath it. According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU), 15 people have been killed in this assault. Preliminary estimates suggest up to ten individuals may still be buried in the rubble.

Heavy engineering equipment, truck cranes, and canine units are currently deployed at the scene. Pavlo Petrov, a spokesperson for the SESU in Kyiv, stated:

“As of now, we have engineering machinery in operation, and the rescue mission is ongoing. Unfortunately, according to our information, there may still be people here.” — Pavlo Petrov

Massive Combined Attack

The large-scale combined assault involved both missiles and attack drones, focusing on Kyiv and the surrounding region. In the capital, 15 people lost their lives, and dozens were injured. The shelling also damaged residential buildings and civilian and transport infrastructure. In the Kyiv region, eight people were killed, and 48 others were wounded.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has expressed hope that the circumstances of a secondary explosion in Vyshneve will be clarified. Search and rescue operations continue, with teams working as quickly as possible to determine how many people may still be under the debris.
