Rehabilitation in Ukraine: Who is part of the team of specialists for patient recovery

A multidisciplinary team of specialists is essential for patient recovery in Ukraine. This team consists of various professionals who work together to provide a comprehensive approach to rehabilitation. The team includes:

  • physiatrist
  • physical therapist
  • occupational therapist
  • speech and language therapist
  • psychologist or psychotherapist
  • rehabilitation nurse
  • assistants to physical and occupational therapists
  • prosthetists and orthotists if needed

The development of rehabilitation in Ukraine is carried out within the framework of implementing the Strategy for Creating a Barrier-Free Space in Ukraine. This strategy was initiated by Ukraine's First Lady Olena Zelenska, emphasizing the importance of improving conditions for patients who need rehabilitation services. In order to raise awareness and accessibility of rehabilitation services, the information campaign "Strengthened" is being implemented by the National Health Service of Ukraine (NHSU) in partnership with the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the Ministry of Veterans.

The "Strengthened" campaign and international cooperation

The "Strengthened" campaign is supported by the Rehabilitation for Ukraine project, which provides additional resources and information for patients. It is important to note that the campaign material has been created with the support of the American people through the U.S. Government, demonstrating international cooperation in the field of rehabilitation. Thus, Ukraine is making significant steps in the development of rehabilitation assistance, involving specialists from various fields to achieve the best results in patient recovery.

Rehabilitation in Ukraine is becoming an increasingly relevant topic, especially in the context of modern challenges, such as the need for patient recovery after injuries or illnesses that have serious consequences. The creation of multidisciplinary teams ensures a high level of support and effectiveness that is crucial for improving the quality of life of those undergoing rehabilitation. The implementation of the "Strengthened" information campaign and the involvement of international partners testify to Ukraine's commitment to improving medical services and increasing their accessibility for all segments of the population.
