Rehabilitation in Ukraine: over 435 thousand people received assistance in a year

Rehabilitation in Ukraine in 2025

In 2025, over 435 thousand Ukrainians underwent rehabilitation under the Medical Guarantee Program, which is implemented as part of the National Strategy for Creating a Barrier-Free Environment in Ukraine. Among the rehabilitated individuals, nearly 100 thousand are children, of which more than 21 thousand toddlers under three years old received the necessary assistance. Additionally, 76 thousand patients aged three to adulthood have also undergone rehabilitation, indicating active work in this area.

New standards and initiatives

In 2025, new rehabilitation assistance standards were approved in Ukraine for individuals affected by spinal cord injuries, limb amputations, and cerebral palsy. In this context, an important step was the opening of a prosthetic-orthopedic laboratory at the University Hospital of Kharkiv National Medical University, which allows for the provision of high-quality prosthetic services. Lviv has also become home to one of the largest prosthetic manufacturing centers in Europe, enhancing the accessibility of modern technologies for Ukrainians.

In 2025, new microclinics were launched in Poltava and Kyiv region, significantly expanding the geography of rehabilitation assistance. In addition, the electronic health care system introduced an electronic request for rehabilitation aids, simplifying the process of obtaining necessary support. Seven centers of excellence continued their operations in 2025, which indicates the ongoing development and improvement of rehabilitation services in Ukraine.

Rehabilitation assistance in Ukraine continues to develop, reflecting the government's efforts to enhance medical services for people with disabilities. The introduction of new standards and the opening of modern prosthetic centers provide essential support to patients who have suffered serious injuries and facilitate their integration into society. These initiatives are part of a broader strategy aimed at creating a barrier-free environment in Ukraine, which is crucial for improving the quality of life of citizens.
