Bus Transport Reform: Ukraine Launches eQueue and Updates Rules for the First Time in 20 Years
The forum "Connecting People and Cities: Bus Transport Forum" brought together representatives of the government, transporters, and international partners to discuss reforms in the bus transport sector in Ukraine. The event was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine, where Deputy Minister Serhiy Derkach presented key results and plans for the passenger transport reform.
The update of the rules for organizing international transport will take place for the first time in 20 years, highlighting the importance of these changes for the Ukrainian transport sector. Among the innovations is the launch of an online cabinet for international routes, which will simplify the planning and organization of transport. There are also plans to implement eQueue for buses at the border, aimed at reducing waiting times and improving service for passengers.
As part of the reform, registers of routes and bus stations will be created, ensuring greater transparency and control in the field of bus transport. Deputy Minister Serhiy Derkach noted that
"the reform of passenger bus transport is about changing the very logic of the system", emphasizing the need to adapt to modern requirements.
Olexiy Kuleba, one of the speakers at the forum, emphasized the importance of bus transport, stating:
"Bus transport today is not just about transportation. It is about people's access to work, education, healthcare, and basic services". By combining the efforts of the state and business, the reform will contribute to further integration of the Ukrainian transport market into the European space.
At the forum, international experts such as Sabine Fraser and Angela Kashperuk also spoke, sharing experiences from other countries in the field of bus transport. This initiative is an important step in the development of Ukraine's transport infrastructure and improving the quality of passenger service.
Impact of the Reform on the Transport System
The bus transport reform in Ukraine is an important step in modernizing the country's transport system, which could positively influence economic development. With the launch of eQueue and new online tools, Ukrainian transport could become more accessible and convenient for citizens, contributing to an improvement in the quality of life. This may also serve as a basis for further integration of Ukraine into European transport networks, enhancing the competitiveness of the domestic transport market.
