Ukrainian consumers are facing record prices for apples in the 2024/2025 season, comparable to prices in the European Union. According to 'Agro Times', this situation has even surprised European experts. The apple shortage last year and the delay of the new harvest have led to a critical situation on the market, with prices exceeding 100 hryvnias per kilogram.
The head of the company 'USPA Fruit', Volodymyr Huriij, noted: 'Prices in Ukraine were comparable to some EU countries, which was very strange, as usually Ukrainian apples are cheaper.'
The product shortage significantly affected the operations of supermarket chains, which reported difficulties in purchasing necessary quantities of apples. This situation is vastly different from previous seasons and has become a real challenge for consumers and retail networks.
