Overnight Russian strikes across Ukraine
In an address, Volodymyr Zelensky described the impact of overnight Russian attacks, which caused heavy losses. In Puhivka, in Kyiv region, a drone strike hit an ordinary residential house, killing three members of one family: a grandfather, grandmother, and their three-year-old grandson. Four more people were taken to hospital: the child's parents, her 15-year-old brother, and a neighbor who had come to assist and was wounded when a second strike hit. The injured are being treated for burns and shrapnel wounds.
Beyond Puhivka, the Ukrainian capital also came under fire: six ballistic missiles targeted civilian infrastructure in Kyiv. At the time of the address, one death had been confirmed there. In total, ten regions across the country were shelled: Donetsk, Kharkiv, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Chernihiv, and Poltava.
Zelensky urged fresh sanctions that would prevent Russia from manufacturing ballistic missiles, saying "more pressure is needed." He also stressed the need to strengthen air defense, citing systems such as Patriot, SAMP/T, NASAMS, HAWK, and F-16 aircraft, which, in his words, "work and help save lives."

The president underscored that "anti-ballistic defenses, interceptor missiles for Patriot, SAMP/T, NASAMS, HAWK, and our F-16s all operate and help save lives here in Ukraine."
