The Minister of Sports of Russia Mikhail Degtyarev expressed his opinion regarding the participation of Russian athletes in the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy. He noted that Russians will be more numerous than they were in Paris, but one should not expect miracles. Degtyarev also emphasized that selection for the Olympics is already underway, so some competitions may be missed by Russian athletes. Nevertheless, he stressed the importance of preparing for the Olympics in Los Angeles in 2028.
According to information, the 2026 Winter Olympics will be held in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo from February 6 to 22. At the same time, Russian athletes have been excluded from international competitions due to aggression against Ukraine, but it was recommended that they be allowed to compete under a neutral status.
