Problems with the Berezan River in the Nechayanske Territorial Community of Mykolaiv Region
In the Nechayanske Territorial Community of Mykolaiv Region, a serious environmental problem has arisen - the Berezan River has begun to dry up rapidly. This situation negatively affects the residents of the villages of Nechayane, Danilivka, Luk'yanyivka, and Mefodiivka, through which this river flows. The water level is dropping, the body of water is overgrowing, the oxygen regime is deteriorating, fish are dying, and underground waters are being depleted sharply. All this complicates the lives of the local population, which, in wartime conditions, is engaged in economic activities and requires access to quality water for its animals.
The deputies of the village council appealed to the higher authorities in June with a request to solve the problem at the state level. However, the response received by the community indicates that the river requires artificial support for its water flow, as it can no longer restore itself. Recently, a mass fish kill occurred in the village of Nechayane due to overheating of the water and lack of oxygen, rather than due to chemical contamination. The community, together with the village council and a local enterprise, organized alternative water supply for livestock, but this is a temporary measure.
The issue of shallow water in the Berezan River has escalated in the Nechayanske Territorial Community of Mykolaiv Region, which could lead to serious consequences for the local population and ecosystem. Residents and authorities are seeking ways to resolve this situation by organizing temporary measures, but a comprehensive solution at the state level is needed to restore the river ecosystem and ensure quality water for local agriculture.
