Year of War in Numbers: Only 4 Days Without Attacks and 445 km² of Occupied Territory

Рік війни: лише 4 дні без обстрілів та 445 км² захоплених земель.

Situation in Ukraine in 2025

In 2025, intense hostilities continued in Ukraine, with Russia carrying out shelling of Ukrainian territory for 361 days, indicating a constant threat to the population. Ukrainians could only breathe a sigh of relief four times without the sound of sirens. The territory remained untouched only for two days in April and two days in May.

Occupation and Control of Territory

Throughout the year, in December, Russian terrorist forces occupied 445 km² of Ukrainian territory, which is 12% less than in November. Alongside this, the number of assault actions decreased by 9%. In total, Russian occupation forces took control of about 4.7 thousand km² of Ukrainian territory, which is approximately 0.78% of the country's total area. In 2024, Ukraine lost control over more than 3.6 thousand km².

The situation remains complex, as throughout 2025, Ukrainians faced constant attacks, underscoring the importance of support and the defense of the country's territorial integrity.

This data reflects the critical situation Ukraine finds itself in, highlighting not only territorial losses but also the ongoing stress for the population due to military actions.

A decrease in the number of assault actions may indicate a change in tactics on the part of the aggressor; however, the threat persists. It is important for the international community to remain attentive to events in Ukraine and provide the necessary support for restoring peace and stability in the region.
