Rimma Ziubina Shares Tragic Personal News
Ukrainian actress and TV presenter Rimma Ziubina has announced the death of her mother, Vira Ziubina, who passed away on February 3, 2024, at the age of 85. Ziubina received the devastating news while filming for the 'Your Letters' project, an initiative by the Command of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (TrO ZSU). The timing came as a profound shock, as she was immersed in her work and unprepared for such tragic personal news. Ziubina is a well-known public figure in Ukraine, often involved in projects supporting the national effort.
In December 2023, a fire broke out in Vira Ziubina's apartment in Uzhhorod, from which both Vira and her grandson managed to escape. However, the incident undoubtedly left a mark on their lives. Rimma Ziubina recounted that the family had joyously celebrated her mother's 85th birthday on January 2, 2024, only to lose her just a month later on February 3.
Honoring a Mother's Memory
Ziubina shared the painful moment she learned of her mother's passing:
“After filming, I was planning to call Mom. I had my phone on silent, as I always do on set. We finished, I picked up my phone and saw countless missed calls from my sister and nephew. I almost guessed, but still wouldn't let that thought into my head... I called back and heard the most terrible news.”

She also noted the poignant coincidence that she received the news while reading a letter to a missing soldier: “At the very moment I was reading a letter to a missing soldier, my Mom passed away. That's why this 2024 video is so important to me—write letters to those you cannot send them to.”
Rimma Ziubina remembered her mother's character, highlighting her modesty and kindness: “On January 2, we joyfully and beautifully celebrated my Mom's 85 years, and on February 3, the soul of the kindest person in the world flew to the heavens. My Mom never asked for anything, never demanded, and generously gave kindness.”
Vira Ziubina's death is a great loss for her family and loved ones. Her daughter Rimma is actively engaged in cultural projects aimed at supporting military personnel and boosting societal morale. While such a personal tragedy will undoubtedly impact her work, it may also inspire new initiatives reflecting the values of family and kindness embodied by Vira Ziubina.
