Introducing the Humanoid Robot Codey

On June 18 at 8:50 PM, Mind Children unveiled Codey, a humanoid robot designed to serve as an interactive assistant for children in public spaces. With expressive facial features, light brown eyes, and a friendly appearance, the robot is particularly appealing to younger users. Codey can hold conversations and make basic decisions, but it is not yet capable of complex physical tasks like carrying objects.

This Mind Children creation operates entirely autonomously, without the need for remote human control. A combination of sensors, onboard computer systems, and artificial intelligence enables Codey to navigate its environment, understand its surroundings, and interact with users in real time. To achieve these capabilities, Mind Children integrated the decentralized general-purpose AI system Hyperon from SingularityNET. This technology incorporates reasoning mechanisms and motivation systems that resemble those found in humans.

Future Plans

To further develop the robot's skills, the company raised over $600,000 through crowdfunding. Mind Children plans to deploy Codey in healthcare, education, and hospitality settings. The humanoid will be able to provide visitors with information, guide them, and assist in learning activities. This year, the company intends to run pilot tests in museums and hotels, with mass production of the second-generation Codey slated for 2027.

Codey will be able to autonomously communicate with children, opening up new possibilities for interactive learning and development. This was reported by Interesting Engineering.

Integrating Codey into fields like education and healthcare could significantly transform approaches to learning and service, offering new interactive opportunities for children. The pilot tests planned for this year will help evaluate the humanoid's effectiveness in real-world settings and gather user feedback, which could inform future technological improvements. Mass production of the second-generation Codey would open new horizons for the advancement of robotics in social sectors.

This highlights the growing potential of robots to adapt and learn from their environments, a capability that complements Codey's interactive features and paves the way for more engaging experiences in various fields.
