Rod Stewart Shows Support for Ukraine

British rock legend Rod Stewart has publicly voiced his solidarity with Ukraine by dedicating a performance of his song "Rhythm of My Heart" to the Ukrainian people. This gesture came in the wake of a massive Russian assault on Kyiv that took place overnight on July 2, 2026. The attack claimed 31 lives and left 102 people injured. On July 5, 2026, Stewart shared a message on his X (formerly Twitter) account, stating:

'My heart is with the people of Ukraine' - Rod Stewart

Tragedy in Kyiv

The musician’s response was prompted by one of the most severe strikes of the war. The enemy targeted residential buildings and civilian infrastructure using drones, ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as hypersonic Zircon missiles. A total of 28 locations across the city were affected. Notably, Laud, a finalist in Ukraine’s National Selection for Eurovision 2026, found himself at the epicenter of the shelling when a missile struck the building opposite his apartment.

This public act by Stewart continues a long-standing tradition of Western artists using their platforms to back Ukraine. Previously, the singer had shown his support by hosting a large Ukrainian refugee family in Britain, covering their housing costs himself, and even hiring several Ukrainians to join his touring team. It is worth noting that this is not the first time Rod Stewart has extended a helping hand to Ukraine.

Expressions of support from international stars like Rod Stewart highlight the critical role of global solidarity with Ukraine amid ongoing aggression. Such public gestures can provide moral encouragement to the Ukrainian people and draw worldwide attention to the humanitarian toll of the conflict. The involvement of prominent figures in backing Ukraine remains a vital part of the global response to the war and its impact on civilians.
