Russian Forces Target Konotop Rail Hub in Sustained Drone Strikes

Ворожі удари безпілотників по залізничному вузлу в Конотопі: нові виклики для регіону.

Russian Military Launches Drone Assaults on Railway Network

For a second consecutive day, Russian occupation forces have carried out drone attacks targeting railway infrastructure in the city of Konotop. This information was reported by the Commander-in-Chief, citing a statement from Oleksiy Kuleba, Ukraine's Vice Prime Minister for Restoration and Minister for Communities and Territories Development. These strikes are part of a broader Russian campaign to cripple Ukraine's critical supply and transport networks.

The strikes in Konotop resulted in damage to:

  • Railway tracks
  • Station grounds
  • A repair workshop
  • The administrative building of a locomotive depot

Fires broke out during the attacks, requiring a firefighting train to be deployed. Railway workers were sheltering at the time of the strikes, and no casualties were reported among the personnel.

Attacks Reported in Other Regions

In a separate incident, Russian forces attacked the Pavlohrad district of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast using a strike drone. The drone hit near a company's service bus. Preliminary reports indicate this attack killed 12 people and injured at least 7 others with wounds of varying severity. The ongoing conflict continues to inflict a heavy civilian toll across Ukraine.

The attacks on railway infrastructure in Konotop and other Ukrainian regions underscore the persistent threat from Russian forces and their strategy of destabilizing critical infrastructure. These actions could have severe consequences for the country's transport system, complicating logistics and the movement of goods. Meanwhile, the humanitarian situation in the affected regions remains tense, particularly due to civilian casualties and infrastructure damage.
