Russian Drone Strikes Hit Five Ukrainian Regions, Damaging Police Station and Civilian Infrastructure

Удар дронів завдали шкоди інфраструктурі та правоохоронним органам у п'яти регіонах України.

Drone Attacks Target Ukraine

On April 20, 2026, the Russian Federation carried out a series of drone attacks across Ukraine. One strike, occurring around 10:35 AM, hit a district police department in Pryluky, Chernihiv region, partially destroying the building, shattering windows, and damaging official vehicles. While no police officers were reported killed or injured, one local civilian was wounded. The attack has been registered in the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under Article 438 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code, pertaining to war crimes. These strikes are part of a sustained campaign targeting both military and civilian infrastructure.

Other Regions Under Attack

Other regions were also targeted. During the night of April 20, the city of Mykolaiv was struck by 'Shahed'-type attack drones, resulting in damage to residential areas, communication lines, apartment blocks, private homes, passenger vehicles, power lines, and tram tracks.

Also on the night of April 20, attacks in the Kyiv region left one person wounded and damaged homes. Over a 24-hour period, the Zaporizhzhia region endured 596 strikes across 39 settlements, injuring four people. In the village of Velykyi Burluk, Kharkiv region, attacks wounded three individuals.

A police representative stated, 'Around 10:35 in Pryluky, there was a strike on the district police department. Part of the building is destroyed, windows are blown out, and official vehicles are damaged. There are no dead or injured.'

These events point to an escalation of the conflict and a persistent threat to Ukraine's civilian population.

The situation in Ukraine remains tense, with numerous attacks indicating a continuation of hostilities. The increasing frequency of drone strikes across various regions highlights the growing risks to civilians and the potential for further escalation. Authorities are conducting investigations to hold perpetrators accountable for war crimes, underscoring the severity of the situation and the urgent need to protect civilians from such threats.

The recent drone strikes are part of a broader pattern of escalating attacks across Ukraine, which have not spared even civilian targets. For instance, a recent incident in Poltava resulted in injuries to children and damage to the residence of prominent bloggers, further illustrating the indiscriminate nature of these assaults.
