Russia attacked Dnipro and Kryvyi Rih with drones: consequences for the energy system

Атакування дронів Росією на Дніпро та Кривий Ріг: вплив на енергетичну інфраструктуру.

Attacks on Dnipro and Kryvyi Rih

On the night of January 10, Russian terrorists attacked Dnipro and Kryvyi Rih with drones. This aggression led to a series of explosions in Dnipro, where a fire broke out in one of the districts. The attack was accompanied by a power outage in some areas of the city. Additionally, on the same day, Russian occupying forces launched an attack on Kryvyi Rih, where the head of the city defense council, Oleksandr Vilkul, reported explosions.

Impact of the Attacks on Infrastructure

As a result of these actions, the infrastructure in Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, and Pavlohrad districts was affected. Russian terrorists carried out a massive drone attack on the energy infrastructure of several regions of Ukraine. As a result of the strikes, most consumers in Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions remained without power.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, instructed Yulia Svyrydenko to provide support to local authorities in Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions. Oleksandr Vilkul urged residents of Kryvyi Rih to be cautious, stating:

“Kryvyi Rih. Explosions. Another massive Shahed attack. Take care of yourself and your loved ones.” - Oleksandr Vilkul

This situation underscores the continued threat from Russian troops and their impact on Ukraine's energy security.

Attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure continue to be a strategic element of the armed conflict, leading to serious consequences for the civilian population. The lack of electricity in major cities such as Dnipro and Kryvyi Rih threatens not only the comfort of residents but also their safety. Authorities, for their part, are trying to provide prompt assistance to the affected regions, but the duration and intensity of the attacks pose a threat to the stability of the country’s energy system.
