Massive drone attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure
Russian terrorists carried out a massive drone attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, leading to power outages in Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhia regions. This attack occurred in 2023, and as a result, most consumers in the mentioned regions were left without electricity supply.
Emergency recovery work will begin only after the security situation improves. Due to the power outages, Ukrzaliznytsia has switched all trains in the region to reserve thermal traction. This decision was made to ensure the stability of transportation under conditions of power outages. Moreover, signaling and communication devices in the region operate on reserve power sources, allowing communication and safety to be maintained.
Call for energy saving
Ukrenergo urged the population to use electricity sparingly, stating:
“If your locality currently has electricity, use it as sparingly as possible.”
This call emphasizes the importance of rational resource use in the challenging circumstances created by the attacks.
This attack on energy infrastructure is part of a larger strategy aimed at weakening Ukraine in the context of war. Power outages on such a scale threaten not only the comfort of the population but also the functioning of critical services. Considering the current security situation, the swift restoration of power supply may be complicated, making the call for conservation even more relevant for the population.
