On the night of December 30, Russian invaders shelled the Chernihiv region, damaging an important energy facility. This attack had serious consequences for the energy infrastructure of the region. On the same day, at dawn, a strike was made on Zaporizhia, which led to damage to an industrial infrastructure facility and resulted in a fire.

DTEK CEO Maksym Tymchenko noted that this winter will be the most difficult for Ukrainians since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. In this regard, Ukraine plans to implement scheduled power outages. Additionally, the energy system of Ukraine is experiencing a shortage of backup power systems, which complicates the situation.

The Chernihiv Oblenergo company stated that as soon as the security situation allows, energy workers will begin emergency recovery work. Given the damage, winters may become tough for many Ukrainian households already feeling the consequences of military actions.
