On the night of October 5, 2025, Russia attacked Ukraine's gas infrastructure, targeting civilian facilities that supply gas to Ukrainians during the heating season.

'The attacked facilities do not have any military significance. These maniacal terrorist strikes are aimed at just one thing - depriving Ukrainians of gas, heat, and light.' - stated the chairman of the board of NJSC 'Naftogaz of Ukraine', Serhiy Koretsky.

As a result of the attack, infrastructure facilities were damaged and are now being restored by specialists from the Naftogaz Group and emergency services. Efforts are underway to eliminate the consequences and assess the damage incurred.

Reaction of the Ukrainian army

The Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that radio technical troops detected and escorted 549 enemy aerial attack means. The main direction of the attack was Lviv region, where 478 strikes were carried out. The air defense shot down and suppressed 478 aerial targets.

Also, the Ministry of Energy assessed the damage from the attacks and warned about possible fake 'power outage schedules'.

Ukraine has become a target of aggression from Russia, aimed at depriving Ukrainians of gas and heat. Ukrainian services are already working on restoring damaged infrastructure and ensuring the safety of the population.
