Three-Day Drone Assault on Kharkiv by Russia Results in Civilian Deaths and Injuries

Тривала атака дронів на Харків, внаслідок якої загинули мирні жителі та багато поранених.

Drone Strikes Target Kharkiv

A series of Russian drone attacks struck the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv over three consecutive days from March 9 to 11, 2023, causing civilian casualties, injuries, and significant property damage. The most devastating strike occurred on March 11 in the Shevchenkivskyi district, where a drone hit a civilian enterprise, killing two people and injuring at least five others, all of whom were reported to be in serious condition. The impact also sparked a fire, complicating rescue efforts.

Additional Strikes and Their Impact

On March 10, overnight and into the morning, drones struck the Kholodnohirskyi district of Kharkiv. These attacks wounded four people and damaged homes and outbuildings. These incidents, along with a previous strike on the Industrial district on March 9 that ignited a fire, underscore an escalating threat to the civilian population. The ongoing conflict has seen a marked increase in the use of drones against urban centers.

The initial attack on March 9 resulted in six casualties, including:

  • A 16-year-old girl
  • A 41-year-old woman
  • A 36-year-old man, all of whom received on-site medical aid
  • A 51-year-old man, who required hospitalization for blast injuries
  • A 43-year-old man and a 57-year-old woman, who sought medical attention afterward

These repeated attacks highlight the severe and deteriorating security situation in the region and the urgent need for enhanced measures to protect civilians. The strikes on residential areas and civilian enterprises demonstrate a pattern that necessitates stronger security protocols and international focus on humanitarian aid and support for the victims to mitigate the consequences of these tragedies.
