Russian Strike on Lutsk Sparks Warehouse Fires and Damages Apartment Block

Удар російських військ по Луцьку призвів до масштабних пожеж і руйнувань житлових будинків.

Lutsk Targeted in April 1st Assault

On April 1st, Russian forces struck the city of Lutsk, igniting fires and causing significant air pollution from smoke. The attack damaged a multi-story residential building, warehouses, and other structures. Specifically, a fragment from a Shahed kamikaze drone struck the apartment block. While the fire in the residential building has been extinguished, efforts to put out the blazes at warehouse sites are ongoing. This attack is part of a wider pattern of strikes on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure, which has escalated in recent months.

In Lutsk, impacts were recorded at:

  • A Nova Poshta (a major Ukrainian courier company) warehouse;
  • A grocery warehouse belonging to a retail chain.

Information regarding casualties from the shelling has not yet been received. For affected residents, the city council has provided a contact number: 77-31-52. Due to the fires caused by the enemy strike, there is heavy smoke pollution in the city's air. The Lutsk City Council has urged community residents to keep their windows tightly closed to prevent harmful substances from entering their homes.

Attacks Reported in Other Cities

Beyond Lutsk, Russian drones also attacked other Ukrainian cities on April 1st. Overnight into April 1st, assaults occurred in Kryvyi Rih (Dnipropetrovsk region) and Khmelnytskyi. Additionally, an enemy drone crashed on the territory of an enterprise in the Myrhorod district (Poltava region), injuring one person. Medical personnel provided aid to the victim on-site. As of today, it is the 1498th day of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The strike on Lutsk is part of Russia's ongoing aggression against Ukraine, which continues to threaten civilian safety. Authorities are urging the population to adhere to safety measures, as similar bombardments may recur. The situation in the country remains tense, and residents of cities under attack are forced to adapt to the new realities of life during wartime.

The recent attacks have not only impacted Lutsk; other Ukrainian cities have also faced similar threats.
