Odesa Hit by Drone Strike: Residential Building, School, and Kindergarten Damaged

Одеща постраждала від атаки безпілотника: пошкоджені житловий будинок, школа та дитячий садок.

Drone Attack on Odesa

In the early hours of February 4, a Russian drone attack on Odesa caused significant damage to civilian and industrial infrastructure. According to Serhiy Lysak, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, two districts of the city were affected. The strike damaged a two-story residential building, destroying its roof and damaging the floor structure, as well as a school and a kindergarten.

The drones also struck an administrative building at an industrial facility, sparking a fire. State Emergency Service personnel rescued four people, with two of them receiving necessary medical care on-site. Utility services have begun clearing the debris and boarding up shattered windows. Searches of the area are ongoing to assess the possibility of further destruction.

Massive Nationwide Assault

This assault on Odesa was part of a larger wave of attacks across Ukraine during the night of February 3. The coordinated offensive involved an estimated:

  • 350 to 500 drones
  • up to 65 missiles

These nationwide strikes hit critical infrastructure in the Vinnytsia region, leaving 50 settlements without power. In Kyiv, three people were reported injured, and in the Sumy region, four were hurt. DTEK thermal power plants were also targeted, suffering significant damage to equipment.

These events underscore a continued intensification of hostilities in Ukraine. Attacks on civilian infrastructure, including schools and homes, raise profound concerns for public safety. The sheer scale of drones and missiles used in these coordinated barrages highlights the severity of the ongoing conflict, which continues to inflict a heavy toll on Ukrainian society and its economy.
