On New Year's Eve, December 31, Russia launched an attack on Odesa and surrounding areas using strike drones. This aggression led to serious consequences: explosions were recorded in the city, causing disruptions in water supply and electricity.
On the morning of December 30, Russian drones already attacked the ports of Odesa region, damaging port and industrial infrastructure. The Odesa Regional Military Administration urged citizens to stay in shelters during the attack, stating:
“Odesa and the region! The enemy is attacking with drones! Stay in shelters!” - Odesa Regional Military Administration
The head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Serhiy Lysak, also urged people to stay in safe places.
Impact of the Attacks on Civil Infrastructure
These events testify to the continuation of Russia's military aggression against Ukraine, raising concerns among the population and local authorities.
Attacks on civil infrastructure, particularly water supply and electricity, jeopardize not only the safety of residents but also their daily lives. These events highlight the importance of proper readiness and response to threats, as well as the need for international support to protect Ukrainian cities from such aggressions. In the context of the military conflict, such actions by Russia may lead to further escalation of tensions in the region and affect the humanitarian situation in Ukraine.
