Passenger Train Attacked in Kharkiv Region
Russian occupation forces used Shahed-type drones to attack a passenger train in the Kharkiv region. The train, operating on the Barvinkove - Lviv - Chop route, was carrying 291 passengers at the time. The strike resulted in impacts in front of the locomotive and on a passenger car, causing both the car and the electric locomotive to catch fire.
The incident was reported by Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine Oleksiy Kubra and the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov. Following the attack, two passengers were injured; the train crew evacuated them, and they were hospitalized. Reserve buses have been organized for the other passengers, while rescuers, medical personnel, and a team from Ukrzaliznytsia are working at the scene. This attack is part of a wider pattern of strikes on civilian infrastructure, which has intensified in recent months.
'At this moment, there are two injured individuals - the train crew evacuated them and handed them over to the ambulance service. Both have been hospitalized,' stated Oleksiy Kubra.
Aftermath of the Attack
The evacuation of passengers was carried out promptly, and efforts to eliminate the consequences of the attack are ongoing.
This incident underscores the severity of the situation in Ukraine, where civilian infrastructure remains under threat due to military actions. The attack on a passenger train highlights the escalation of the conflict and the risks faced by civilians. Authorities continue to take measures to ensure safety and provide assistance to the victims, a critical step in responding to such assaults.
