Missile strike on Odesa

On December 12, the Russian army carried out a missile strike on Odesa, resulting in damage to a civilian vessel in the port of Chornomorsk. This strike was part of active military actions, as the previous night Russian troops also attacked the energy infrastructure of Odesa.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed the situation in Odesa with U.S. President Donald Trump. He noted that

“today's Russian strike, like many other similar strikes, had and could have no military significance”
- Volodymyr Zelensky. Zelensky emphasized that it is important for Moscow’s desire to fight to cease, which depends on the world's reaction to Russian actions.

Negotiations between world leaders

At the same time, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held talks with Vladimir Putin at the International Forum on Peace and Trust in Ashgabat. During the meeting, Erdogan proposed a limited ceasefire for energy facilities and ports. He also noted that

“progress is possible in areas that have practical benefits for both sides”
- Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The situation in Odesa and its surroundings reflects the escalation of the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, driven not only by military actions but also by the diplomatic efforts of international leaders. The negotiations between Erdogan and Putin indicate attempts to find a compromise; however, real progress in peaceful resolution remains questionable.

The international community's reaction to Russia's aggression remains crucial, as it may determine the further development of events in the region.
