Drone Strike on Kharkiv Market: Casualties and Damage Reported

A Russian drone attack targeted a market in Kharkiv's Slobidskyi district, damaging infrastructure and injuring two people. The assault also destroyed several market stalls. This incident is part of a broader pattern of attacks on Ukrainian civilian areas, which have intensified during the winter months.

Kharkiv faced multiple drone strikes on January 31, including hits by 'Molniya' (Lightning) UAVs on the city's outskirts and an attack on the Saltivka district. Earlier, on the night of January 24, the city was struck by 'Shahed' drones, with the Industrial district suffering the most damage and the Nemyshlyanskyi district also reporting impacts.

Recovery and Safety Efforts

Power outages have affected consumers in the Kharkiv, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, and Cherkasy regions, with repair crews working to restore energy facilities. In a separate incident on February 2, Ukrainian railway infrastructure was attacked. Furthermore, a mass strike hit the Cherkasy region overnight, resulting in additional civilian casualties.

These assaults on Kharkiv and neighboring regions underscore the ongoing armed conflict in Ukraine, where civilian infrastructure continues to be targeted.

The recent events highlight the critical need to restore energy systems and ensure public safety amid the ongoing crisis. Repair work on energy facilities and aid for attack victims remain a priority for local authorities and the national government.
