Strike on Semenivka
On Sunday, around 6:30 PM, Russian forces launched a drone attack on the town of Semenivka in the Chernihiv region. The assault damaged the building of Secondary School No. 5. According to Oleksandr Seliverstov, two strikes from enemy FPV drones were reported, but no information was received regarding casualties or fatalities.
Escalating Aggression
This incident occurred amidst other attacks carried out by Russian occupying forces overnight on April 6th. The Novhorod-Siverskyi district of Chernihiv region was also targeted, where an energy facility was damaged. Furthermore, that same night, Russian terrorists struck residential buildings in Odesa. The shelling destroyed a five-story building, which was engulfed in flames, and another high-rise was hit, causing severe damage from the fifth to the third floors.
These events underscore the ongoing aggressive actions of Russian military forces, which continue to inflict harm on civilian objects and infrastructure across Ukraine. The targeting of schools and apartment blocks represents a dangerous pattern in this conflict, violating international humanitarian law.
The intensification of hostilities in Ukraine, particularly in the Chernihiv region, indicates that Russian troops are maintaining the frequency of their assaults on civilian targets. Damage to schools and residential buildings poses grave risks to the safety of the local population and worsens the humanitarian situation in the area. These developments highlight the urgent need for continued international support for Ukraine in its defense against aggression and in the reconstruction of infrastructure devastated by the war.
The recent drone strike on a school in Semenivka is part of a troubling trend of attacks on educational institutions in the Chernihiv region. Similar incidents have unfolded, as reported in another attack that damaged both a school and a power facility.
