Ukraine Endures Major Assault: 12 Regions Hit by 400 Drones and 29 Missiles

Україна витримує масований напад: 12 областей під ударами дронів та ракет.

Coordinated Strikes Across Ukraine on February 17

In a large-scale overnight assault on February 17, Russian forces launched approximately 400 drones and 29 missiles of various types, including ballistic models, targeting Ukrainian territory. The attack impacted 12 regions, causing confirmed strikes, injuries, and casualties among civilians, including children. The port city of Odesa suffered particularly severe damage, with tens of thousands of residents left without heating or water supply. This represents one of the most significant combined-arms barrages in recent months, highlighting the ongoing intensity of the conflict.

The strikes constituted a coordinated attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. In Dnipro, explosions from attack drones occurred alongside ballistic missile impacts. Ukrainian air defenses successfully intercepted a significant number of the incoming threats; however, some strikes penetrated defenses, damaging critical infrastructure, residential buildings, and railway networks. At least nine people were wounded, including two of the injured in Odesa.

Rescue Operations and Aftermath

Emergency and repair crews are currently working across the affected regions. The primary targets of the attack included:

  • Burshtyn
  • Zaporizhzhia
  • Dnipro
  • Lozova
  • Odesa
  • Chornomorsk
  • Stryi
  • Vilniansk
  • the front line

The nation's leader confirmed that all necessary emergency services are mobilized to assist the victims.

'They used nearly 400 drones and 29 missiles of various types, including ballistic ones. A significant number were shot down, but unfortunately, there were also hits,' the President stated.

This assault underscores the continuation of Russia's aggression against Ukraine, which carries severe consequences for civilian populations and critical infrastructure. The scale of the attack and the use of modern weaponry indicate the persistent nature of the conflict, requiring concerted efforts for resolution. Meanwhile, rescue operations and support for the affected remain an urgent priority to restore normalcy in the regions struck.
