The Russian drone attack on the compressor station of the gas transmission system operator in the Odesa region near the border with Romania has raised serious concern. Many strikes were recorded as a result, and work is currently being done to assess the aftermath of this attack.

The equipment of the compressor station was attacked by dozens of strike drones. Currently, work is being conducted to determine the consequences of the attack.

This station is a key element for transporting liquefied natural gas from Greece through the Trans-Balkan gas pipeline to Ukraine, including supplies of gas from the USA and Azerbaijan. Ukrainian Energy Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk emphasized that this incident highlights the need to expand alternative gas supply routes to reduce dependence on Russian gas.

The head of the Ministry of Energy warned that Russia will use any available means to undermine Europe's energy dependence. Analysts point out that the restoration of the compressor station's operation may take a significant amount of time, depending on the damage and necessary restoration measures.

The attack on the compressor station in the Odesa region is a serious signal to European governments about the need for more active measures to ensure energy security and diversify gas supply sources.
