Russian Assault on Vinnytsia Region Damages Railway and Homes with 27 Drones and 5 Missiles

Атака на Вінничину: руйнування залізниць і житла внаслідок масованого удару безпілотників і ракет.

Combined Strike Targets Vinnytsia Oblast

In an overnight assault on March 7, Russian forces launched a combined attack on Ukraine's Vinnytsia Oblast, causing significant damage to infrastructure and residential buildings. The attack damaged approximately 40 homes, with impacts to roofs, windows, doors, and walls. The strike also cut power to around 900 households, though electricity had been restored to all affected settlements by the time of this report.

Scope of the Attack and Its Aftermath

The assault involved 27 drones and 5 cruise missiles. Beyond the damage in Vinnytsia Oblast, railway infrastructure was hit, forcing a number of trains to alter their routes in the Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, and Khmelnytskyi regions, with some services cancelled. Ukrainian Railways managed to repair most of the damaged sections, with restoration work conducted in the Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, and Rivne regions.

The ripple effects of the attack were felt in other parts of Ukraine. This ongoing conflict continues to target civilian infrastructure, severely disrupting daily life. The death toll from a separate strike on Kharkiv rose to 11, while in Kyiv, thousands of apartment buildings were left without heating on the morning of March 7. As Natalia Zabolotna stated,

"The attack resulted in damage to energy and railway infrastructure facilities, as well as the destruction of civilian residential buildings."

This incident is part of a sustained Russian campaign against Ukrainian infrastructure. Recovery in the affected regions requires substantial effort, as critical energy and transport hubs have suffered serious damage alongside residential areas. Consequently, state agencies and local authorities are working to accelerate restoration and provide aid to victims.
