Russia attacked Zaporizhzhia and Kharkiv on New Year's Eve: an eco-park was damaged

В ніч на Новий рік Росія обстріляла Запоріжжя та Харків: пошкоджено екологічний парк.

Russian military attacks in Ukraine

On the night of January 2, Russian occupation forces struck Zaporizhzhia, and on January 1, they attacked Chuhuiv and Kharkiv, damaging an eco-park. According to local authorities, explosions in Zaporizhzhia were heard at 11:45 PM, but no casualties were reported.

At 9:45 PM on January 1, the city of Chuhuiv was targeted by Russian drones. On the same day, the occupiers hit Kharkiv, resulting in damage to the eco-park. The founder of the eco-park, Oleksandr Feldman, reported that most of the birds, including parrots and pheasants, were killed in the attacks.

Impact on ecology and social situation

These incidents are part of the ongoing aggression from Russia, which continues to harm the civilian infrastructure of Ukraine.

These attacks highlight the persistent nature of Russia's military actions against Ukraine, particularly the vulnerability of civilian objects and ecological initiatives in the regions that have been shelled. The loss of birds in the eco-park is not only an ecological but also a social tragedy, as such places serve as vital centers for restoring natural environments and developing ecological awareness among the population. The escalation of the conflict once again jeopardizes the safety of civilians and long-term ecological projects in Ukraine.
