Hospital Targeted in Konotop Attack
Russian forces carried out a strike on a hospital in the city of Konotop, located in Ukraine’s Sumy region. Mayor Artem Semenikhin announced the assault via his Telegram channel, emphasizing that the attack was intentional and not the accidental crash of a drone. At the time of the strike, patients and medical staff were present inside the facility. Local authorities and emergency services are currently assessing the extent of the damage and the number of casualties.
Civilian Vehicles Also Hit
Earlier on June 1, Oleh Hryhorov, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, reported an attack on civilian transport in the Konotop district. Russian drones struck trucks at a gas station in the Krolevets community, igniting two semi-trailers, and also hit a passenger car on a road in the Buryn community. Over the course of the day, ten people were injured across the region, with Russian forces launching more than 90 attacks on 41 different settlements.
Artem Semenikhin commented on the situation, stating: 'The Russian scumbags have just attacked a hospital in Konotop, Sumy region, where people are present.'
Authorities are continuing to evaluate the consequences of these attacks. This is a developing story...
This hospital strike is part of a broader bombardment campaign in Sumy Oblast, where Russian troops have repeatedly and deliberately targeted civilian infrastructure. The damage to medical facilities and the threat to patients and healthcare workers have sparked serious concern among local residents and the international community. Officials are still assessing the aftermath and providing aid to the wounded.
Artem Semenikhin further clarified: 'This was not a Shahed drone crash, as some are claiming—it was a strike! It was aimed directly at the hospital!'
The recent attack on the hospital in Konotop is not an isolated incident, as the region has faced escalating violence. Earlier, a drone strike caused significant damage, collapsing three floors of a residential building. This pattern of aggression highlights the ongoing threat to civilian safety and infrastructure.
