The threat of the Russian satellite network 'Rassvet'
Advisor to the President of Ukraine Serhiy 'Flash' Beskrestnov warned on social media about the threat posed by the Russian satellite network 'Rassvet', which is positioned by Moscow as an analogue of the American Starlink. According to Beskrestnov, Russian satellites can provide online control of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), allowing the Russian Federation to attack the entire territory of Ukraine. He also noted that Ukraine is unable to use Starlink on Russian territory, complicating the situation.
Beskrestnov emphasized that communications at the enemy's frontlines will improve, and the main threat lies precisely in this.
“Communications at the enemy's frontlines will improve - this is clear. The main threat is that we currently cannot use Starlink for online control of UAVs over Russia. It does not work there. However, the Russians will be able to attack our entire country using UAVs with online control via their satellites,” - stated the president's advisor.
Solutions and challenges
As a solution, Beskrestnov identified the creation of electronic warfare (EW) means against the 'Rassvet' satellites.
“I see only one solution - to direct all efforts towards creating EW against 'Rassvet'. While there is time. I consider this task a priority for myself,” - he added.The president's advisor also mocked the proposal to shoot down Russian satellites with their own satellites, calling it a joke from the Soviet era. His remarks included a joke about a Soviet lunar rover that successfully collected lunar soil samples from an American lunar rover, noting that it occurred 'today at 12 o'clock Moscow time.'
