Russia is preparing for a new stage of an information campaign against Ukraine. The Center for Counteracting Disinformation reported that they plan to use an information campaign again to discredit the highest political leadership of Ukraine and the issue of prisoner exchanges.
According to the Center and the Ukrainian Defense Forces, Russian special services are preparing photos and interviews with prisoners from 'Azovstal' who are planned to be exchanged, created under pressure and in violation of international norms.
'The use of prisoners for propaganda and manipulation violates the fundamental principles of the Geneva Convention regarding the treatment of prisoners, which stipulate humane treatment of prisoners of war and their protection from any form of violence or use for political purposes,' the Center noted.
Russia has already used fakes regarding prisoners, but this campaign is also aimed at destabilizing the situation in Ukraine and hindering the process of exchanging prisoners.
Russia is again preparing to start an information campaign against Ukraine aimed at discrediting Ukrainian political leadership and obstructing the prisoner exchange process. This confirms Russia's serious approach to using propaganda in a hybrid war against Ukraine.
