In Venezuela, the production of cartridges for Kalashnikov assault rifles in 7.62 mm caliber has begun. It is stated that the plant can produce up to 70 million ammunition annually. Oleg Yevtushenko, the executive director of the state corporation 'Rostec', reported that various types of cartridges will be manufactured at the plant, including those with a steel core and tracer bullets.

The launch of ammunition production in Venezuela took place as part of an agreement concluded between the presidents of the Russian Federation and Venezuela in 2006. Despite difficulties such as the COVID-19 pandemic, sanctions, and corruption scandals, this step signifies the development of technological cooperation. The project also confirms Russia's cooperation with authoritarian regimes despite international pressure due to the conflict in Ukraine.
