Situation in Sloviansk and Druzhkivka
Russian shelling inflicted significant damage in the cities of Sloviansk and Druzhkivka in the Donetsk region. In Sloviansk, the attacks damaged 14 houses and a car, and also ignited a fire in a residential building. Emergency services extinguished the blaze while operating under the constant threat of renewed shelling.
In Druzhkivka, the enemy carried out an airstrike, setting a residential building and an outbuilding on fire. Firefighters also put out these fires, repeatedly having to take cover due to the danger of new attacks.
Conflict Escalation
These strikes are part of a continuing escalation of the conflict in Ukraine, particularly in regions facing relentless assaults. The situation in Sloviansk and Druzhkivka underscores the ongoing danger to civilians and the critical importance of rapid emergency response. These cities are located in a heavily contested area that has seen intense fighting since the war's early stages.
Fighting fires under such conditions represents a major responsibility and risk for rescue workers, who operate on the front lines of mitigating the consequences of aggression.
