Russian Shelling of Sumy Region Wounds Four, Including a Child

Атака з боку Росії на Сумщині призвела до поранень чотирьох осіб, серед яких дитина.

Sumy Oblast Comes Under Attack

Russian military forces shelled communities in Ukraine's Sumy Oblast, resulting in civilian casualties and damage to infrastructure. The attack occurred over the past day, targeting areas within the Sumy, Shostka, and Okhtyrka districts. The Ukrainian news outlet 'Hlavkom' reported the details, citing the National Police.

The assault left four civilians wounded, one of whom is a child. In the Sumy community, the injured include:

  • A 13-year-old child
  • A 60-year-old woman

Damage was inflicted on:

  • One apartment building
  • Three private houses
  • A hotel
  • A car wash
  • Two vehicles
  • Power lines

In the Seredyna-Buda community, a 60-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman were wounded. A private residential house was damaged in the Shostka community, while in the Trostianets community, two private houses, two shops, and a car were hit.

Heightened Tensions in the Region

This incident follows a period of intense hostilities in the area. The Sumy region, which borders Russia, has been a frequent target of cross-border attacks since the full-scale invasion began. Just days earlier, on February 27, Russian shelling killed four people and wounded two others in the oblast.

The continued shelling of Sumy Oblast underscores the ongoing military aggression in Ukraine, which severely impacts civilian safety and daily life. The region remains under constant threat, with local residents facing danger daily. Damage to critical infrastructure further complicates access to essential services and resources, exacerbating the humanitarian challenges for the population.
