Внаслідок обстрілів постраждали мирні жителі в регіонах Сумщина, Одещина, Кіровоградщина та Криворіжжя.

Sumy Region Under Sustained Attack

Over a 24-hour period from the morning of March 22 to the morning of March 23, 2026, Russian forces launched 80 strikes against 31 settlements across 17 territorial communities in Ukraine's Sumy region. These attacks caused significant destruction and civilian casualties. Air raid alerts were active in Sumy for a total of 19 hours and 36 minutes, with the highest concentration of strikes recorded in the Sumy and Shostka districts. This region, which borders Russia, has been a frequent target of cross-border shelling throughout the war.

The shelling across Sumy resulted in several civilian injuries. In the Bereziv community, a 13-year-old boy and an 18-year-old girl were wounded when a drone struck their vehicle. In the Sumy community, a 47-year-old man was injured in a drone attack on March 21, and in the Putyvl community, a 14-year-old boy was hurt by another drone strike. The assaults employed a range of weaponry, including mortars, artillery, FPV drones, other unmanned aerial vehicles, and guided aerial bombs.

Strikes Across Multiple Regions

Beyond Sumy, the Russian military also targeted the Odesa region. Overnight on March 23, residential buildings and port infrastructure were damaged in Odesa. On the evening of March 22, over 20 drones were reported heading toward the area. Separately, on the evening of March 22, Russian forces struck the Kirovohrad region with attack drones, injuring a female resident of the city of Znamianka.

On the morning of March 23, Russian invaders attacked the city of Kryvyi Rih. This assault wounded two men, aged 31 and 58. The strike also sparked a fire, which emergency services successfully extinguished. These events underscore the ongoing intensity of the conflict and its severe consequences for Ukrainian civilians.

The escalation of attacks in the Sumy, Odesa, and Kirovohrad regions points to a renewed intensity in hostilities across Ukraine. The persistent targeting of civilian areas leads to significant losses and destruction, highlighting the grave danger to non-combatants. These developments have serious implications not only for local populations but also for regional stability, raising concerns at the international level.

The recent drone attacks in the Sumy region highlight the escalating dangers faced by civilians amidst ongoing military operations.
