Civilian Toll and Infrastructure Damage from Ukrainian Shelling
Russian attacks on the Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv, and Zaporizhzhia regions have resulted in civilian casualties and severe damage. These assaults are part of a wider pattern of strikes on Ukrainian territory. One person was killed and seven others wounded in the attacks. In Kryvyi Rih, two people were injured, and a fire damaged infrastructure and vehicles. In the Synelnykivskyi district, one man was killed and five people were injured. A fire also broke out at a farm in the Pavlohrad district, damaging buildings and agricultural machinery, though no casualties were reported there. All fires have been extinguished.
Capital and Zaporizhzhia Come Under Fire
In the early hours of January 28, Russian forces targeted the Ukrainian capital. A strike in the Kyiv region damaged a multi-story residential building, and in the Bilohorodska community, two local residents—a man and a woman—were killed. A separate attack on Zaporizhzhia damaged more than 100 apartments and 20 cars. These incidents underscore the ongoing threat to urban centers far from the front lines.
These shelling incidents demonstrate the conflict's continuation and its severe impact on Ukraine's civilian population and infrastructure. Attacks on residential areas and civilian objects highlight the direct threat the war poses to everyday life. Such events risk causing a further humanitarian catastrophe if the situation does not improve.
