What Moscow Has Asked of Pyongyang
Andriy Chernyak, a representative of Ukraine's Defense Intelligence, has said that Moscow approached North Korea with a request for new KN-30 ballistic missiles. Ukrainian intelligence assesses the KN-30 as three times more powerful than the KN-23/24 missile type already supplied to Russia. The request reportedly includes:
- 120 ballistic missiles
- six launch systems
- a missile unit of up to 90 personnel
- between 30,000 and 50,000 North Korean soldiers
So far, there is no confirmation that any KN-30 missiles have been transferred to Russia. Moscow has already received 40 KN-23/24 missiles, two of which were used in recent strikes against Ukrainian territory. Russia is negotiating another military aid package with North Korea ahead of the autumn-winter period. The final scope of assistance is expected to be set during a September meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

North Korea now provides between 35% and 50% of Russia's ammunition needs, delivering 200,000 to 260,000 shells every month.
