Use of Belarusian territory by Russian military

The Russian invaders are using the territory of Belarus to bypass Ukrainian defensive positions, placing equipment for strike drones on residential buildings. This raises concerns among Ukrainian military and politicians, as such actions could significantly change the threat landscape in western Ukraine.

The equipment for guiding strike drones is installed on the roofs of regular five-story buildings in Belarus, increasing risks for the local population. Volodymyr Zelensky noted that antennas and other equipment that help guide drones to targets in western regions of Ukraine are actually located on such buildings. This use of residential buildings raises questions about the sovereignty of Belarus, which is effectively surrendering its interests in favor of Russian ambitions.

Risks and challenges for security

Moreover, Russian strike drones, moving through the territory of Belarus, bypass the Ukrainian air defense system. This complicates the tasks for the Ukrainian military, as the increase in drone production in Russia creates new security challenges for the country. Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that this situation is risky for Belarus since it becomes part of military actions that threaten not only Ukraine but also regional stability.

This situation demonstrates how Russian military strategies adapt to the new conditions of war, using the territories of neighboring countries to strengthen their positions. At the same time, Russia's actions in Belarus may contribute to the escalation of the conflict, increasing tension in the region and raising risks for the civilian population. The Ukrainian leadership continues to monitor the developments, which may require new responses to security challenges arising from these circumstances.
