The Ukrainian authorities have received information that Russia is actively recruiting Iranians to participate in the war against Ukraine. This became known thanks to the Center for Counteracting Disinformation (CCD). Flyers with offers of service in the Russian army for $20,000 have appeared in several cities in Iran, encouraging people to join the Russian army through a Telegram channel that organizes the recruitment of mercenaries. This activity is part of the Kremlin's strategy to compensate for losses before military attacks.

According to intelligence, Russia has already recruited about 18,000 foreigners from 128 countries to participate in various conflicts. This process often occurs through deception, pressure, or financial exploitation. It was previously reported that among the mercenaries joining the Russian army are former military personnel from special forces and intelligence, including Afghan veterans. Ukrainian intelligence has also confirmed the activity of Russian special services in seeking and recruiting foreign militants.
