Russian troops shelled the Kherson region overnight from August 7 to 8, resulting in the deaths of two people and injuries to four others. This was reported by the head of the regional defense, Alexander Prokudin.
«Under the procedural guidance of the prosecution authorities of the Kherson region, a pre-trial investigation has been initiated into the facts of war crimes (part 1, 2 of article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The Russian troops shelled the settlements of the region using artillery and various types of drones,» the prosecutor's office said.
As a result of the attack, a 75-year-old civilian man was killed in Berislav, while in Antonovka, enemy drones injured three people, including a 13-year-old boy. An elderly woman suffered serious injuries from the shelling in Kherson.
«Private houses, infrastructure facilities, a school, and vehicles have been damaged,» the prosecutor's office added.
Enemy attacks in other regions
During the night, the occupiers also shelled the Kharkiv, Kyiv, Sumy, and Odessa regions, as well as attacked Irpin and Bucha with drones. In Kyiv region, three women of different ages were wounded, and houses were damaged by fire and explosions.
The air defense forces shot down most of the enemy targets in Bucha, where a kindergarten and houses were damaged. In Kharkiv, following a drone attack, a fire broke out in an office building, injuring two people.
Since the beginning of August, Russia has launched a new wave of enemy attacks on Ukraine, with shelling and drone strikes affecting various regions of the country, leading to a steady increase in the number of deaths and injuries among the civilian population. Law enforcement agencies are investigating and protecting the indicated territories from the aggressor.
