Strike on Bohodukhiv
Russian attacks on the city of Bohodukhiv in the Kharkiv region on February 9 and 11 resulted in the deaths of six civilians, four of whom were children. A three-day period of mourning has been declared in the Bohodukhiv community from February 11 to 13. A private home was completely destroyed, killing two one-year-old boys, a two-year-old girl, and their 34-year-old father. The mother and grandmother of the victims are receiving medical care. This attack is part of a wider pattern of strikes on civilian areas in Ukraine's northeast, which has seen intense fighting.
Response and Aftermath
Following a night-time attack, rescue workers recovered the bodies of four victims from the rubble. An enemy drone struck the residential building, igniting a fire that spread across approximately 60 square meters. Psychologists were on the scene to provide support to those affected. The family had evacuated from the town of Zolochiv in the Kharkiv region just days earlier.
In response to the tragedy, Ukrainian state flags have been lowered on administrative buildings, businesses, and institutions. All entertainment and public events have been canceled.
Today the enemy committed a crime that is beyond human comprehension.
Volodymyr Bilyi
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that 'every Russian strike undermines trust in all the diplomatic efforts underway to end the war.'
This incident starkly highlights the ongoing humanitarian cost of the war in Ukraine, where civilians, especially children, continue to bear the brunt of the violence. The declaration of mourning and the tributes to the victims reflect the profound grief and suffering endured by families who have lost loved ones. Such events also underscore the critical need for a sustained international response and renewed peace efforts, as each new attack calls into question the viability of diplomacy to resolve the conflict.
