Ballistic Missiles and Zircon Rockets Strike Kyiv: Fires and Widespread Damage Reported

During the night of May 24, Russia launched an assault on Kyiv using ballistic missiles, Zircon rockets, and Shahed drones. This offensive sparked numerous fires, left several districts without power, and caused casualties and structural damage. The attack also extended to the Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kharkiv regions.

Aftermath of the Strikes

Simultaneous strikes across multiple districts led to destruction and blazes. In the Podilskyi district, a fire erupted in a non-residential area, while rocket debris landed on the roof of a nine-story building, igniting a blaze and shattering windows. In the Obolonskyi district, fragments fell onto the grounds of a kindergarten, though no fires or damage were reported there. However, in the same district, falling rocket debris set vehicles ablaze, causing fires at two outdoor locations. At 02:49, a second round of explosions heightened tensions across the city.

In the Sviatoshynskyi district, another fire broke out in a non-residential area. In the Shevchenkivskyi district, a rocket struck a 24-story residential building, igniting flames on floors four and five. In the Darnytskyi district, a fire started at a gas station. By 03:00, in the Podilskyi district, the structure of a multi-story residential building collapsed, trapping people under the rubble; two injured individuals were hospitalized. In the Solomianskyi district, rocket fragments hit a 15-story residential building, damaging the upper floors, though no casualties were reported. Additionally, a private home in this district caught fire.

In the Holosiivskyi district, a fire engulfed a commercial market area, where vehicles also burned. Updates on the attack's impact continue to emerge. According to the latest data, a previous assault on Kyiv left 87 people injured, two dead, and destroyed a market and shopping center in Lukyanivka. The city remains on high alert, with authorities urging residents to follow safety protocols.
