What happened in Ukraine
In the early hours of August 11, Zaporizhzhia came under a combined attack. Six people were killed and 19 more were injured. The assault used North Korean ballistic missiles, Zircon rockets, and guided aerial bombs. Emergency crews were still putting out a fire at one impact site as of the latest reports.

In Kyiv, a building at an infectious disease hospital and several industrial enterprises were damaged. In Kherson and Kharkiv, strikes hit electrical substations, leaving some areas without power. President Volodymyr Zelensky said: “All services are working to bring electricity back to families.”
Across Ukraine, more than 120 drones were launched, most of them jet-powered Shaheds. Zelensky said that “drone terror continues almost daily” in frontline communities. He also warned: “Every step Russia takes — ramping up ballistic production, bringing in North Korean assets, preparing mobilization — shows Moscow is preparing not for peace, but for escalation.”
The president called for tougher sanctions and more air-defense support. “More sanctions pressure on the enterprises fueling Russia’s war, and more air-defense help for Ukraine — all of this is needed for peace to have a chance,” he said.
