Russia is using the summit in Alaska to buy time before a possible offensive in the fall of 2025. According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), during the summit, Russian troops intensified combat operations, including conducting infiltration operations near Dobropillia, and also assembled drones and missiles for strikes on Kyiv.

"A German source with insider information reported to Reuters that Ukrainian officials warned their German counterparts on August 13 about Russian President Vladimir Putin's plans to use the summit in Alaska to 'buy time' before a possible offensive in the fall of 2025."

Deputy Chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Major General Vadym Skibitsky, reported that Russian troops plan to achieve their objectives in the areas of Kupiansk, Chasiv Yar, Toretsk, and Pokrovsk by the beginning of September. The Russian Federation has postponed its plan for a full takeover of Donetsk Oblast until the end of 2025. According to the general, these actions align with the assessments and statements made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov regarding Russia's military objectives in Ukraine.

According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Russia has drawn certain conclusions from the summit in Alaska and is preparing for a possible offensive in the fall of 2025, considering the strategic positioning of troops and plans regarding Ukrainian territories.
