The head of the Russian delegation, Vladimir Medinsky, spoke about Russia's new initiative regarding the format of negotiations with Ukraine. He noted that the Ukrainian side should reconsider this proposal to switch to an online format, which will save time and resources.
The Russian side proposes to create three working groups that will work online on humanitarian, political, and military issues
The Ukrainian delegation is already considering this proposal and is ready to cooperate in the new format. It should be recalled that at the previous negotiations in Istanbul, Russia was offered to hold a meeting of leaders with the mediation of the US president and the Turkish leader.
Preparation for the leaders' meeting and the exchange of prisoners
The Turkish Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of the results of previous rounds of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia. He noted that the exchange of prisoners has received a positive assessment from the international community, and technical contacts between the delegations are being established.
The Kremlin justifies Putin's refusal to meet with Zelensky by claiming the need to lift the ban on negotiations with Russia.
The priority topics for negotiations remain the return of prisoners, children who have been kidnapped, and the preparation for the leaders' meeting. The Ukrainian delegation supports President Trump's initiative and continues to work on humanitarian issues.
During the last negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, new formats and the possibility of holding a meeting of the leaders of both countries were discussed. Humanitarian issues, prisoner exchanges, and the preparation for negotiations play an important role in the interaction of the parties.
